The Queen Selection Committee of the Holy Cross Society of Easton, PA is very proud to announce that Brianna Nigrone has been selected as the Queen of the 107th Celebration.Brianna Nigrone is the daughter of Greg and Beth Nigrone. She is the granddaughter of Kathleen and the late Salvatore (Tootie) Nigrone and the great- granddaughter of Santo and Mary Nigrone. Brianna is 16 years old and a junior at Wilson Area High School.
At Wilson High School, she is a new student guide, is involved in GSA, and participates in badminton club, prom committee, key club, world travelers club, and student council. She is also a volunteer at Special Olympics and the St. Anthony’s Festa. Last year Brianna was selected for The Mayor’s Summer Youth Camp where she learned about the City of Easton’s history and how city governments function alongside Mayor Sal Panto. She has always had an interest in her Italian culture and enjoyed learning about it.
Founded in 1911 by a local group of men and women who migrated from Santo Stefano di Camastra, in the Province of Messina, on the island of Sicily, the Holy Cross Society continues to share many of the same cultural traits and traditions of their ancestors.Today, many of the descendants of the original founders and additional families continue the Sicilian traditions and celebrate their heritage at an annual celebration held the second weekend each September at the Society’s grounds at the Route 78 Interchange in Easton.Many local business and civic leaders, together with their families, have their origins in Santo Stefano di Camastra and are involved with the Holy Cross Society. Local dignitaries include Mayor Sal Panto and Northampton County Judge Sam Murray. Easton area business include, Alfero Company, Morici’s Restaurant, Giacomo’s on the Hill, Palmeri Transportation, Piscitello Home Center, and many more family operated businesses.
